Professor Chen-Yu Wang
Blake Chen-Yu Wang is a Professor at the College of Law, National Taipei University. Over nearly twenty years academic career, he has held key leadership roles, including Vice Dean of the College, Chair of the Department of Law, Director of the Program on International Trade Negotiation, and Director of the Centre for International Law. Beyond academia, he serves as a Commissioner of the Trade Remedy Commission for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and as the Secretary General of the Chinese (Taiwan) Society of International Law, acting as the PI for the ILA (International Law Association) Branch. He has published extensively in both English and Chinese on public international law, international trade and investment laws, and WTO-related issues. Recently, his research interest has expanded into interdisciplinary work at the intersection of AI, public international law, and digital trade law.
He earned LL.M. and S.J.D. (Doctor of Juridical Science) from the Washington College of Law, American University (Washington, D.C.), and conducted research as a Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School. He maintains a long-standing academic connection with Cambridge, having previously served as a Visiting Fellow at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law (LCIL) in 2013. During his current residency at Clare Hall, undertaken in cooperation with the LCIL, he is pursuing a series of interconnected research initiatives. These include examining the implications of AI under the global economic order, state responsibility, the translation and annotation of classical international law book, and constructing an oral history of landmark transnational legal cases.
At Clare Hall, Blake Chen-Yu Wang is accompanied by his wife, Blair Shu-Chuan Wang, a senior auditor at the National Audit Office holding an M.S. in Business. Her research interests in Cambridge focus on information management and public policy oversight.
