Dr Anne DeWitt
Dr Anne DeWitt is a scholar of Victorian literature, the history of science, and the history of reading. She is currently working on a monograph that seeks to understand the popularity of theological novels. Published in the 1880s, and identified by readers as a genre, these novels took up debates in theology and issues in Biblical criticism, becoming widely known and debated. Anne is also editing the Oxford Handbook of Literature and Science, 1800s–present, whose publication is expected next year.
At Clare Hall, Anne is joined by her husband, Andrew Goldstone, who is also a Visiting Fellow.
